Hotel Villa Sonia   (4*)
Taormina, Sicily
 Stunning views from the restaurant
This is a delightful, family-run hotel situated in the medieval village of Castelmola, high above Taormina, and has dramatic views of Mount Etna and over Taormina. It has been built to the highest standard, rich in antiques and other artefacts, and the restaurant is noted for its extensive wine list and home cooked food. Taormina is within 4km and accessible by the hotel’s free shuttle bus, a public bus service or taxi.
The local village of Castelmola is said to be one of the most beautiful in Italy, perched above Taormina with narrow winding streets and an olde world charm. It is famous for its Almond wine which you can try in the village, as well as browsing through the craft shops or visiting the 13th century castle or some of the delightful small churches. Afterwards stop in one of the little squares and eat in one of the restaurants or pizzerias.
