The weather in Chile

Chile has many different climates depending upon where in the country you are. The graph below is just a very rough guide to the average temperatures. In general as it is in the southern hemisphere, Chile's summer is in our winter. Here's a look at the different regions.

Atacama in the north: This region gets hardly any, plenty of sunshine, and even in the summer months is not particularly hot - we can say that any time of year is a good time to travel.

Santiago in the centre: The weather in the central part of Chile is characterised by the warm months between November and March, and mild months between April and October. Rainfall is low, especially between September to May. We can say that any time of year is good. The ideal months are October to April (for the extra warmth).

The Patagonia region of Chile in the south is where it gets a bit more interesting! Basically the weather is cold and changeable between June and August, and that is why you won't many tours going in these months. The ideal months are October to March when it is a bit warmer. As in many other parts of Chile, rainfall is low.

Conclusion: The ideal months are October to March.
