Delhi (1 night)

Day 1

Evening flight from Heathrow to Delhi with Jet Airways, arriving the next day. The flight departs Heathrow at 20:50 and arrives into Delhi at 10:40 in the morning. If you would like to relax before your flight, why not book an airport lounge at Heathrow - with complimentary drinks and newspapers, they are available from £17 per person.

Day 2

On arrival in Delhi, check in to your hotel for tonight which is the Intercontinental Eros. Then in the afternoon, enjoy a tour of Old Delhi, the Red Fort, Jama Masjid Mosque, and Raj Ghat.

Day 3

Before going to Agra in the afternoon, you will have a morning tour of New Delhi, including India Gate, Tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun, and the Qutb Minar tower. You will also visit the former Viceregal Residence which is a fine example of British Imperial architecture.

  • Old Delhi - This is the real India, and you'll get a taste for the colours, smells, traffic chaos, and the way of life
  • Red Fort - this is the biggest attraction in Delhi, and once was home to over 3,000 people, it is built of sandstone
  • Jama Masjid Mosque - the most important mosque in Old Delhi, built in 1656, and which can fit up to 25,000 people
  • Raj Ghat - the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated
  • New Delhi - could not be any more different from Old Delhi, with wide tree-lined streets, and the place of the Government of India
  • India Gate - large war memorial
  • Tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun - a world heritage site dating from 1575
  • Qutb Minar tower - a 240 ft sandstone tower, the tallest in India

Agra (2 nights)

Day 3

... After your tour of Delhi in the morning, drive to Agra in the afternoon and check in to your hotel for the next 2 nights. This will be the Gateway Hotel Agra.

Day 4

Toiday will be one of the highlights of your trip with a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal. Then after breakfast visit the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah and Agra Fort. There is an optional excursion to the Taj Mahal at sunset (payable locally).

  • Taj Mahal at Sunrise - this is the best time to visit as the light is wonderful and the crowds have not yet appeared
  • Optional visit to the Taj Mahal at sunset - the light changes throughout the day, so you will get a different perspective at sunset
  • Itmad-ud-Daulah tomb - situated on the river bank
  • Agra Fort - as well as being a splendid fort, there is a wonderful distant view of the Taj Mahal

Jaipur (3 nights)

Day 5

After breakfast, drive to the deserted sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri. Afterwards continue to Jaipur and check in to your hotel which is the Gateway Hotel Ramgarh Lodge.

In the morning visit Amber Fort, and in the afternoon visit the City Palace.

At Leisure to relax, or explore Jaipur's bazaars, or take an optional tour of the ghost town of Bhangarh.

Delhi (1 night)

Day 8

Back to Delhi via the beautiful Samode Palace, including a sightseeing tour.

Day 9

Transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight back to London. The flight departs Delhi at 13:40 and arrives back into Heathrow at 17:40 that afternoon. Alternatively, continue with an extension to Kathmandu, Shimla, Samode Palace, Ranthambore, Udaipur or Goa.

Notes

1. The prices are based on escorted group tours, however if you would like to travel on any date throughout the year (not just those listed below) using private transport, then the supplement varies from £300 to £500, but please call for a quotation.

2. The single person supplement is approximately £645, but again please call us for an exact quotation.

3. Group sizes are between 10 and 25 people. You will have a tour leader and local guides. All transfers are taken care of.

4. Visas are required for India, however the process is now simpler than it was. We can help you with your forms, but you will need to send your passports off to the High Commission of India by registered mail.
