Flights
Your flights are with British Airways from Heathrow Airport direct into Beijing, and returning direct from Shanghai. If you are travelling from other parts of the UK, then you can alternatively fly with Emirates via Dubai which has excellent regional connections.
Beijing (days 1-5)
Day 1 Evening flight from Heathrow to Beijing, arriving the next day
Day 2 The rest of today is at leisure
Day 3 Tiananmen Square, Chairman Mao's mausoleum, Forbidden City, Great Wall of China, Temple of Heaven, Chinese Acrobatic show
Day 4 Great Wall of China, Summer Palace, Peking Duck meal
Day 5 Fly to Xian
Highlights - Walk on the Great Wall of China - this will be one of your highlights of China with many fantastic photographic opportunities of the wall and the surrounding scenery
- Summer Palace - this is a calm and peaceful place with beautiful bridges, walks and waterfalls
- Forbidden City - a deserted city within a city with has the largest and best preserved collection of ancient buildings in China
- Stroll through Tiananmen Square - a vast public space which is the world's largest public square
- The Temple of Heaven - a UNESCO world heritage site
- Peking Duck evening meal - if you go to Beijing, then you must try the Peking Duck!
- Chinese Acrobatic Show - for your final evening in Beijing

Xian (days 5-6)
Day 5 Fly to Xian, see the ancient city wall, enjoy Tang Dynasty dancing in the evening
Day 6 Terracotta Warriors, fly to Shanghai
Highlights - Terracotta Warriors - over 8,000 life size figures which were buried before the birth of Christ, and took 36 years to complete with 700,000 workers involved

Shanghai (days 6-8)
Day 6 Fly to Shanghai, enjoy a dinner of traditional Shanghai cuisine
Day 7 Yu Gardens, Old Town Shanghai, Shanghai museum, The Bund, traditional Shanghai cuisine in the evening
Day 8 Sadly fly back to the UK, returning the same day
Highlights - Old Town - wander the narrow streets and take in the incredible atmosphere
- Yu Gardens - an calm oasis away from the hectic city with typical Chinese pagodas
- The Bund - this is Shanghai's historic waterfront promenade, and is great for people watching
